Jeddah: In a significant initiative aimed at enhancing collaboration between government entities and the private sector, the Saudi Transport General Authority (TGA) inaugurated the first model project for delivery drivers in Al-Khobar. The project is developed in conjunction with the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, specifically the Municipality of Eastern Region, alongside several delivery applications that have contributed financially to its implementation.
According to Saudi Press Agency, this initiative is part of a broader effort to improve the working conditions and quality of life for individuals in the delivery sector. The project provides a range of integrated facilities, including air-conditioned rest areas and dedicated waiting spaces, which are designed to elevate drivers' performance and enhance their professional experience. Such improvements are expected to positively impact the quality of services rendered to consumers.
The strategic implications of this project are substantial, as it seeks to organize and modernize the work environment within the delivery industry. By granting drivers access to a professional setting that addresses their fundamental needs during periods of waiting or rest, the initiative aims to bolster service quality and enhance road safety for drivers.
The authority has articulated that this project marks the inception of similar initiatives that will be extended to various cities across the Kingdom. The effort is aligned with the overarching objectives of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services and supports the ongoing development of the service sector while reinforcing partnerships with the private sector.
