Makkah: The Transport General Authority (TGA) conducted over 37,684 inspection tours in Makkah and Madinah during the fourth week of Ramadan, with the aim of assessing compliance with transportation regulations and the safety of worshippers and visitors during their rides. In Makkah, TGA carried out 29,247 inspection tours and found 6,818 violations. The most common violations involved buses missing technical equipment, no valid driver cards, trucks operating without permits, proper documentation for transportation of goods, or basic safety measures, or taxi drivers not wearing uniforms, with no up-to-date vehicle maintenance, or operating without permits. In Madinah, 8,437 inspection tours found 1,318 violations. TGA emphasized that such inspections aim to ensure strict compliance with regulations governing land transportation in Makkah and Madinah, in order to ensure smooth and safe rides for passengers.
