TGA Conducts Over 122,000 Inspections During Fourth Week of Ramadan

Makkah: The Transport General Authority (TGA) carried out more than 122,656 inspection operations across the Kingdom from the 19th to the 25th of Ramadan. The campaigns resulted in the detection of 22,678 violations and the impounding of 1,296 vehicles in several regions, including Makkah and Madinah.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the inspection campaigns aim to ensure the quality and safety of public transport services, particularly during Ramadan when the number of visitors and pilgrims increases significantly. The efforts focus on verifying the technical condition of vehicles, ensuring compliance with licensing regulations, and combating unauthorized passenger transport.

TGA stated that these campaigns help strengthen regulatory compliance, enhance competitiveness in the transport sector, and ensure that transportation services meet approved safety standards. The compliance rate during this period reached 92%, reflecting the effectiveness of the intensified monitoring efforts.

Inspection teams recorded several violations during the Ramadan period, including drivers failing to adhere to the approved uniform, operating vehicles without official permits, vehicles not meeting safety requirements, taxi drivers failing to use fare meters, and individuals using private vehicles for unauthorized passenger transport.

The statistical bulletin showed that Makkah Region recorded the highest inspection activity, with about 66,265 inspections conducted. These inspections resulted in 13,787 violations and the impounding of 865 vehicles, reflecting heightened operational oversight in one of the Kingdom's busiest regions during the holy month.

TGA emphasized that these inspection campaigns are part of its ongoing efforts to enhance safety, regulate transportation services, and improve service quality across all transport sectors.
