Riyadh: The inaugural Tar Festival is set to launch today at the Abu Bakr Salem Theater in Riyadh's Boulevard City, coinciding with the Esports World Cup. Organized by the Music Commission, the festival will run until August 23. It celebrates Saudi Arabia's rich musical heritage and offers audiences a unique experience centered around the 'tar' instrument and its distinctive rhythms, highlighting its pivotal role in traditional Saudi music.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the festival features a group of performers presenting a wide array of artistic works, as well as immersive activities designed to enhance the visitor experience, including a market area where attendees can purchase musical instruments and observe skilled artisans crafting them in real time.
