Medina: Taibah University has registered a new patent for an innovative technology called the 'Flexpen,' designed to address the challenge of accurately delivering doses of sensitive semisolid pharmaceutical formulations. The innovation aims to enhance patient safety, reduce medication waste, and improve operational efficiency in the healthcare sector.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the technology, which has been patented by the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, features a dual-cylinder design. The first cylinder is responsible for storing and dispensing the medication through an ejection piston. The second cylinder is equipped with a digital calibration system that enables highly precise dose control.
The technology is characterized by several key features: high dosing accuracy, reusability, compatibility with various viscosity levels, ease of manufacturing, and reliable practical outcomes.
This achievement is the result of a collaborative research effort and reflects the university's vision of enabling medical innovation, promoting sustainable manufacturing, and advancing applied research practices in vital fields.
The university affirmed that this innovation aligns with the goals of healthcare transformation outlined in Saudi Vision 2030. It showcases the university's ability to convert scientific research into practical technological solutions that serve both the community and the national healthcare system.
