Manila: Super Typhoon Man-yi devastated many houses and forced hundreds of thousands of people to seek refuge in emergency shelters in the northern Philippines today.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Man-yi, the sixth cyclone to hit the Philippines in a month, made landfall on the eastern island of Catanduanes, with maximum sustained winds reaching 195 kilometers per hour and gusts up to 240 kilometers per hour.

The state meteorological agency has warned about a “potentially catastrophic, life-threatening situation” in the provinces along the typhoon’s path. No casualties have been reported so far.

Man-yi is expected to move toward the northwestern region today, impacting northern Luzon, the most populous archipelago area.
