Riyadh: Somalia's Second Deputy Prime Minister Jibril Abdirashid Haji Abdi affirmed that his country is at a pivotal point in its development journey, making steady progress toward an economy based on sustainable and inclusive manufacturing.
According to Saudi Press Agency, speaking at the 21st session of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) General Conference in Riyadh, he emphasized the crucial role of investment and international partnerships in accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
He noted that Somalia possesses vast marine resources and fertile agricultural lands, providing a strong foundation for national development. However, the country remains classified among the least developed nations and faces challenges due to limited manufacturing capacity and infrastructure.
He emphasized ongoing efforts to develop the renewable energy sector, aiming to transition to green energy by expanding the use of solar systems and implementing innovative clean energy solutions.
