Seasonal Shifts in Linah Village Pastures Enhance Grazing Sustainability in Northern Borders

General

Linah: The pastures of Linah village, located south of Rafha Governorate in Northern Borders Region, are experiencing a notable seasonal transformation as summer approaches. The landscape is now dominated by yellowed grasses and shrubs, with dry vegetation cover expanding across the plains and plateaus.

According to Saudi Press Agency, covering approximately 5,000 square kilometers of varied terrain, including hills, sand, and flat plateaus, this area provides a fertile environment for seasonal plant growth in spring, transitioning to a dry landscape in summer.

Experts indicate that these seasonal changes are typical of desert climates. Despite their dryness, summer grasses are vital resources for livestock, particularly sheep and camels, playing a key role in the pastoral life cycle.

The rural areas of Linah exemplify environmental diversity, hosting various plant species, including grasses, shrubs, and drought-resistant plants. This diversity creates a suitable habitat for wildlife, providing refuge and food sources, and contributes significantly to ecological balance.

Environmental authorities, in collaboration with local communities, are implementing projects to enhance vegetation sustainability. These include pastoral cultivation programs and initiatives to rehabilitate degraded lands, supporting biodiversity in arid regions.

These efforts emphasize the importance of integrating community awareness with institutional initiatives to preserve natural resources, thereby enhancing food security and environmental stability for future generations.
