Riyadh: The government sector in Saudi Arabia is undergoing accelerated transformation in service delivery models, driven by the expanding adoption of data and artificial intelligence technologies, which are enhancing institutional performance and efficiency, improving service quality, accelerating transaction completion, and elevating the beneficiary experience. This transformation is led by the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), the national reference for data and artificial intelligence in regulation, development, and innovation.
According to Saudi Press Agency, SDAIA seeks to build national enablers that support the adoption of AI across government entities, develop regulatory frameworks, strengthen governance, and enable the optimal use of data. It also launches initiatives and platforms that contribute to building a more efficient and proactive digital government, while promoting a culture of reliance on data and AI to develop public services and transforming them from traditional models into smarter, more flexible services that respond to the needs of society.
The approval by the Cabinet to designate 2026 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence reflects the significant progress achieved by the Kingdom and the strong institutional interest in this field, demonstrating the leadership's commitment to expanding the developmental impact of advanced technologies across various sectors, particularly the government sector, in a way that enhances spending efficiency, improves service quality, and keeps pace with national aspirations toward a more innovative and efficient government.
