General

Makkah: The Saudi Water Authority has reported a significant achievement in water distribution during the Day of Arafah, as the water system successfully pumped 895,622 cubic meters of water in Makkah Al-Mukarramah and the holy sites. This figure contributes to a total of 7,794,799 cubic meters of water pumped from the start of Dhu al-Hijjah until the ninth day, showcasing the authority's operational plan to ensure a continuous water supply.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the authority's strategy relies on robust production and transmission capacities designed to meet a peak daily demand surpassing 1.2 million cubic meters. The system's capability to pump over one million cubic meters daily is attributed to the integration of the system's sectors and coordinated efforts, ensuring efficient supply and distribution. Modern technologies and advanced network management have been pivotal in enhancing operational efficiency.

The authority's initiatives extend beyond supply, with significant emphasis on storage, transportation, distribution, and treatment capabilities. Effective conservation measures by the National Center for Water Efficiency and Conservation (MWE) support resource sustainability and demand management.

In maintaining water quality and safety, 4,908 laboratory tests were conducted during the Day of Arafah, contributing to record-level testing that bolsters confidence in the water supply's quality. Additionally, the Saudi Water Authority's control and compliance teams undertook over five thousand inspection tours of pilgrims' camps and service facilities in Mina and Arafat, ensuring the provision of water services to pilgrims.
