Saudi Space Agency to Host International Space Debris Conference, Launch DebriSolver

Riyadh: The Saudi Space Agency (SSA) announced it will host the second International Space Debris Conference in Riyadh on January 26 and 27, 2026. The conference is part of SSA's efforts to strengthen the Kingdom's leadership in driving global initiatives for the sustainability of the space sector and to reaffirm its role as a key hub for strategic cooperation in addressing current orbital challenges.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the conference aims to foster international dialogue to develop joint policies that mitigate the growing impact of space debris, promote global cooperation to find sustainable solutions and innovative technologies, and support the development of strategies for the long-term sustainability of the space environment. The SSA also announced the launch of the global DebriSolver Competition, to be held as part of the conference. The competition aims to generate innovative technical and regulatory solutions to address space debris challenges, focusing on multiple pillars, including technical, regulatory, economic, and social aspects. The first edition of the conference, held in Riyadh in 2024, saw participation from over 50 countries, along with several international organizations and global companies. It concluded with recommendations that contributed to raising awareness about the importance of space debris management.
