Saudi Shura Council Speaker Participates in Eighth Conference of Arab Parliament, Speakers of Arab Councils and Parliaments

Riyadh: The eighth conference of the Arab Parliament and Speakers of Arab Councils and Parliaments commenced in Cairo on Saturday, with Saudi Arabia represented by a delegation led by Speaker of the Shura Council and President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh. The event gathered speakers of Arab councils and parliaments, heads of delegations, and Speaker of the Arab Parliament Mohammed Al-Yamahi.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the conference is organized by the Arab Parliament in cooperation with the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union. In his opening address, the Saudi Shura Council speaker highlighted the Kingdom's presidency of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union during its 39th conference. He acknowledged that the conference was held under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and with the support of Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The speaker emphasized that Saudi Arabia's presidency of the union is a responsibility the Kingdom holds with pride, reflecting the confidence placed in the Kingdom and the collective commitment to advancing the union's work. He noted that these efforts aim to meet the aspirations of the Arab and Islamic peoples for security, stability, development, and prosperity.

He welcomed the speakers of Arab councils and parliaments, along with the Arab Parliament speaker, affirming that the conference mirrors the strong ties among Arab parliamentary institutions and their shared commitment to strengthening joint parliamentary action. He highlighted that the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Arab Parliament have long served as platforms for dialogue, coordination, and the exchange of expertise among Arab parliaments.

The speaker underscored the shared responsibility to continue working in a spirit of solidarity and cooperation, adding that stronger parliamentary coordination will serve the interests of Arab peoples and align with their aspirations. Concluding his remarks, he expressed appreciation to the Arab Parliament speaker and all those involved in organizing the conference, wishing success for the conference and expressing hope that its outcomes would enhance Arab parliamentary cooperation and reinforce joint Arab action.
