Madrid: The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) participated in WEX Global 2025, held from February 10 to 12, to showcase its impressive five-decade history in promoting global development. SFD's involvement at the event highlighted its significant contributions to the water and energy sectors in developing countries worldwide.
According to Saudi Press Agency, SFD Executive Director of Strategy and Development Abdullah Al-Sakran delivered a speech at the event, detailing the fund's efforts and accomplishments over the years. Al-Sakran emphasized SFD's role in advancing development in the water and energy sectors, which are crucial for the progress of various developing nations.
Additionally, SFD organized a panel discussion titled "The Power of Partnerships: Unlocking Potential for Sustainable Development," which focused on creating sustainable solutions for the challenges faced by developing countries in the water and energy sectors. This discussion underscored the importance of partnerships in achieving lasting development outcomes.
In recognition of its contributions to sustainable global development, SFD was honored with the Outstanding Community Contribution Award at the event. Since its inception in 1975, SFD has been instrumental in supporting the water and energy sectors of developing countries, having financed over 800 projects and development programs in more than 100 nations. These efforts have significantly contributed to social progress and sustainable economic growth in these regions.
