Saudi Female Students Continue to Shine at European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad

Riyadh: Further adding to Saudi Arabia’s achievements in international competitions, Saudi students Fatima Buali, from Al-Ahsa City, and Retaj Al-Saleh, from the Eastern Region, won the bronze medal and an honorable mention, respectively, at the 2024 European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO), held in Georgia from April 11 to 17.

The Saudi students were selected to participate in EGMO after a series of strict tests and training supervised by King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.

Mawhiba works in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education to prepare Saudi teams, through various advanced training courses, to represent the Kingdom in Olympiads.

This year’s EGMO saw the participation of 212 students from 54 countries.

This is the Kingdom’s 12th participation in EGMO. Over the years, Saudi students won two gold medals, six silver medals, 13 bronze medals, and seven honorable mentions.
