Washington: Under the patronage of Saudi Ambassador to the United States Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Washington, DC, participated in the annual 'Passport DC' event. This major cultural activity, held in May, involves numerous embassies to promote cultural exchange and introduce the cultures of various nations.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the participation is part of the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to enhance cultural understanding between peoples and to highlight its cultural heritage and future aspirations, aligning with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. These events provide international platforms to showcase the Kingdom's cultural diversity, development initiatives, and global achievements.
The embassy presented visitors with a program divided into four themed sections. The first section, dedicated to the "Year of Handicrafts," featured displays of traditional art by Saudi students studying abroad, a traditional costume exhibition, and cultural activities highlighting culinary diplomacy with traditional dishes from the Kingdom.
The second section emphasized Saudi culture through documentary presentations on the Kingdom's history, cultural richness, and international relations. It also included musical and heritage performances that showcased the diversity of folk arts across the Kingdom's regions.
The third section celebrated the 80th anniversary of the Quincy Pact between the late King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud and former US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. A documentary film highlighted key milestones in the bilateral relationship, along with archival photos from their historic 1945 meeting.
The fourth section highlighted the 'Story of the Kingdom' through 11 interactive stations covering topics such as cultural diplomacy, studying in the Kingdom, and environmental initiatives. It also featured segments on Saudi Arabia's hosting of Riyadh Expo 2030 and the Saudi Arabia FIFA World Cup 2034, and a display highlighting the Kingdom's financial identity through the symbol of the Saudi Riyal.
