Riyadh: The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) announced that customs operations at land, air, and sea ports recorded 954 seizures of prohibited items in a single week, underscoring the authority's dedication to enhancing security and protecting society from smuggling and illegal activities.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the seizures entailed 157 cases involving narcotics, including hashish, cocaine, heroin, shabu, and Captagon pills, as well as 178 incidents involving other prohibited substances. Customs officials also intercepted over 1,956 attempts to smuggle tobacco and its derivatives, 36 cases related to sums of money, and three incidents involving weapons and their accessories.
ZATCA reaffirmed its commitment to reinforcing customs controls on imports and exports to safeguard society. It emphasized its collaboration with relevant authorities to combat smuggling and illegal trade in all forms.
