Saudi Arabia, U.S. Sign Deal Recognizing U.S. Motor Vehicle Safety Standards in Saudi Market

Washington: Minister of Commerce and Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) board Chairman Majid Al-Kassabi signed an agreement with U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer in Washington regarding the recognition of the U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) as fully meeting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's national automotive safety requirements.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the agreement represents a key step in strengthening bilateral partnership and facilitating trade flows between the two countries. Saudi Arabia's adoption of the FMVSS will open broader opportunities for developing the industrial, transportation, and logistics sectors, in addition to raising safety and reliability standards in the Saudi market and enhancing consumer protection and vehicle quality.
