According to Saudi Press Agency, the day has been formally designated by a 2023 royal decree from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. This day honors a banner that has symbolized the state since its founding in 1727.
The flag's green field represents growth, while the Shahada signifies peace and the Islamic faith, and the sword embodies justice and security. Notably, the Saudi flag is the only one in the world never flown at half-mast, a unique status enshrined in the Basic Law of Governance to preserve the sanctity of the declaration of faith at its center.
