This significant gathering took place in Vienna, Austria, from May 5 to 16, 2025.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the session addressed various legal issues related to space activities. Key topics included the use of outer space, challenges stemming from commercial activities, and the growing concern over space debris. These discussions were crucial for shaping the future framework of space law.

Participants engaged in a general exchange of views about the peaceful use of outer space. The session also reviewed the status and implementation of the five United Nations treaties on outer space. Other critical topics included the definition and delimitation of outer space, reflecting the evolving nature of space exploration and utilization.

COPUOS, established by the UN General Assembly over 65 years ago, operates from Vienna. Its membership has grown from an initial 24 member states to 102, making it one of the largest UN committees. The UN Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) acts as its secretariat, facilitating the committee's work and ensuring effective international cooperation in space activities.
