General

Riyadh: The Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wrth), in collaboration with the Academy of Arts and Design at Tsinghua University of China, successfully executed the Saudi-Chinese cultural exchange program 2025 from April 25 to 27. This initiative is part of its broader mission to foster cultural exchange and encourage community engagement in traditional handicrafts, aligning with the celebration of "The Year of Handicrafts."

According to Saudi Press Agency, the program featured a variety of dialogue sessions and interactive workshops centered around Saudi traditional arts, such as Roshan, which are recognized on UNESCO's Lists of Intangible Cultural Heritage. These sessions aimed to deepen the understanding of traditional arts and crafts among participants.

The cultural exchange also included specialized workshops that focused on traditional wood art techniques used in decorating Najdi windows. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to design Chinese hairpins inspired by traditional Saudi jewelry patterns and craft leather wallets, blending elements from both cultures to create unique pieces.
