Tabuk: The Tabuk-Haql Road is one of the most prominent strategic projects supervised by the Roads General Authority (RGA) in the Tabuk region. Its importance lies in promoting tourism on the Gulf of Aqaba coast in Haql Governorate as part of the RGA's efforts to enhance tourism and provide a reliable road network with a high level of safety and quality.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the road, which extends 169 km, connects the city of Tabuk to Haql Governorate in the northwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The governorate is home to tourist attractions such as natural beaches along the coast, dunes, mountains, and plateaus with scenic views, as well as the blending of green palm trees with the colors of the sea in an impressive natural scene.
The road has been designed to meet the highest quality and safety standards, incorporating numerous features such as road signs, ground paint, ground markings, warning vibrations, and concrete barriers. These measures are aimed at enhancing road safety and accommodating the growing demand for the road network, thereby ensuring a smooth traffic flow.
RGA continues to implement numerous vital projects and initiatives to advance the road sector. This aligns with the Roads Sector Strategy's objectives of achieving sixth place in the global Road Quality Index by 2030, reducing road fatalities to fewer than 5 cases per 100,000 people, ensuring the road network meets traffic safety standards according to the International Road Assessment Programme (IRAP), maintaining advanced services consistent with the road network's capacity, and increasing private-sector participation in operational activities.
