Riyadh: Riyadh today hosted the opening of the 'Clinical Research Transformation: Future Outlook 2026' conference, organized by King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSHRC), with the aim of supporting the development of the Kingdom's clinical research ecosystem and enhancing the integration of scientific research with clinical practice, contributing to accelerating the development of specialized therapies and raising the efficiency of the medical innovation ecosystem.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the conference is being held with the participation of a group of leaders and experts in clinical research, biotechnology, and healthcare innovation from North America and Europe, alongside participants from within the Kingdom. Through its sessions, it addresses regulatory, technical, and ethical aspects related to advancing clinical research, in addition to reviewing national and international experiences in building integrated and sustainable research ecosystems, and the role of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in improving research efficiency and developing regulatory and oversight procedures.
The release added that the conference comes within the context of the qualitative transformation taking place in the Kingdom's health research system and the rapid progress achieved in biotechnology and medical innovation, reflecting the advancement of national capabilities and their integration with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Biotechnology Strategy 2040 in building a knowledge- and innovation-based healthcare system. It also serves as a high-level professional platform for enhancing the exchange of expertise and building partnerships among researchers, institutions, and relevant entities.
KFSHRC ranked first in the Middle East and Africa and 15th globally in the list of the world's top 250 academic medical institutions for 2025, and was named the highest-valued healthcare brand in the Kingdom and the Middle East, according to Brand Finance 2024. It was also included in Newsweek's lists of the World's Best Hospitals 2025, the World's Best Smart Hospitals 2026, and the World's Best Specialized Hospitals 2026.
