Qatar Welcomes UN Security Council Statement Condemning Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia

Doha: The State of Qatar welcomed the statement issued by the members of the UN Security Council on August 7, which condemned the missile attacks launched by the Houthi militia against the Kingdom since July 13, as well as attacks on commercial vessels since July 22.

According to Saudi Press Agency, in a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Qatar's full appreciation for the emphasis on upholding international law and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216.

It also welcomed the council members' rejection of actions that threaten regional security and undermine the rights and freedoms of maritime navigation.

The ministry reiterated Qatar's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its sovereignty and security.

It further affirmed that the security of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of the security of the State of Qatar and all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.
