Doha: The State of Qatar strongly condemned the targeting of the Saudi tanker Wedyan while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a serious violation of the safety of international navigation, a direct threat to the security of global energy supplies, and a clear and explicit breach of international law.
According to Saudi Press Agency, in a statement issued today, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the continuation of such unacceptable attacks represents a dangerous escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region, undermines efforts to consolidate regional security and stability, and erodes the gains achieved following the memorandum of understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, including de-escalation and enhanced maritime security in the region.
The ministry renewed Qatar's call on Iran to cease any practices that undermine regional security immediately, refrain from endangering international navigation and global energy supplies, fully comply with international law and United Nations Security Council Resolution no. 2817, and take urgent measures to prevent the recurrence of such attacks.
