General

Al-majmaah: The Prince Mohammed bin Salman Project for the Development of Historical Mosques has successfully restored the Al-Tuwaim Mosque in Al-Majmaah, an important historical landmark originally constructed in the 14th century (8th century AH).

According to Saudi Press Agency, the mosque was initially built in the traditional Najdi architectural style by the Al-Waili tribe. Covering an area of 461 square meters, the mosque functioned as a central religious and educational institution for many centuries, hosting many esteemed historians and scholars over the years.

The restoration, which was completed in 2019 by specialized Saudi teams, focused on preserving the mosque's unique architectural elements. These include the distinct bead-stone cylindrical columns, the traditional Quranic school, and the courtyard markers used for calculating prayer times.

This project is part of a broader initiative to restore ancient mosques across the Kingdom, aiming to maintain their authentic architectural character and cultural importance. These efforts are in line with the objectives outlined in Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to preserve and promote the Kingdom's cultural heritage.
