Riyadh: The General Assembly of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees unanimously re-elected Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz as president for a new four-year term from 2025 to 2029, during its 23rd regular meeting held yesterday in Riyadh.
According to Saudi Press Agency, in his opening remarks, Prince Abdulaziz expressed gratitude to the Saudi leadership for its steadfast support of Arab sports and youth, and its continuous commitment to advancing the sports sector across the region, which has yielded positive results in numerous initiatives and projects.
Prince Abdulaziz reaffirmed the union's unwavering solidarity with Palestine and full support for Palestinian athletes who continue to represent their nation despite the challenges, emphasizing that the Palestinian cause remains deeply rooted in the hearts of Arab peoples.
The General Assembly also approved Bahrain's request, in coordination with Saudi Arabia, to host the 18th Arab Games in 2027, while the 19th edition will be held in Saudi Arabia in 2031.
