Riyadh: The Arab Tourism Organization (ATO) participated in the 26th session of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) in Riyadh, focusing on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and innovation in shaping global tourism.
According to Saudi Press Agency, this event, hosted by the Kingdom through the Ministry of Tourism, marks the first time the Gulf Cooperation Council region has held the largest General Assembly in the organization's 50-year history. The session coincides with UN Tourism's 50th anniversary and brings together around 160 delegations, including ministers and officials, to discuss the role of innovation in promoting sustainable development and international cooperation. The program features four plenary sessions and meetings of seven specialized committees, focusing on the impact of AI and digital transformation on sustainable growth.
The ATO emphasized that hosting the General Assembly in Riyadh underscores the Kingdom's commitment to advancing the global tourism sector through international dialogue. Riyadh welcomed attendees with its exceptional infrastructure and vibrant hospitality sector, showcasing the Kingdom's dedication to excellence in hosting global events. Key milestones include the opening of the first UN Tourism Regional Office for the Middle East and the Kingdom's chairmanship of the Executive Council for 2023 and 2024.
