PIF’s Helicopter Company and RSG Collaborate with Archer Aviation for eVTOL Aircraft Service

General

Dubai: The Helicopter Company (THC), a Public Investment Fund (PIF) company and Saudi Arabia's leading commercial helicopter operator, has signed an agreement with Archer Aviation and Red Sea Global (RSG) at the Dubai Airshow. This collaboration marks a significant step towards integrating electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft into Saudi Arabia's emerging mobility ecosystem.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the partnership aims to develop, test, and potentially integrate Archer's eVTOL aircraft into RSG's operations, marking one of the first deployments of eVTOL technology in Saudi Arabia. The memorandum of understanding was signed by THC chief executive Captain Arnaud Martinez, RSG Group chief executive John Pagano, and Archer Aviation chief commercial officer Nikhil Goel.

In the initial phase, Archer Aviation will collaborate with THC and RSG to establish a foundational framework for planned eVTOL operations in Saudi Arabia. This includes creating a structured sandbox environment for test flights with Archer's Midnight eVTOL to evaluate aircraft performance, operational feasibility, and regulatory alignment.

The companies will also explore advanced aerial technologies and long-term strategic partnerships to support regional innovation and advance next-generation aviation systems. RSG will lead the sandbox testing with Archer's Midnight aircraft to assess the potential for integrating eVTOL aircraft into future operations, leveraging its controlled airspace and sustainable infrastructure.

THC's Martinez emphasized the importance of the partnership in redefining transportation and advancing aviation technology in Saudi Arabia. RSG's Pagano highlighted the alignment of this initiative with RSG's vision for regenerative tourism and innovative, sustainable travel solutions.

Archer Aviation's founder and chief executive Adam Goldstein expressed enthusiasm about partnering with leading operators like THC and RSG to prepare Saudi Arabia for the operational launch of eVTOL aircraft. The collaboration aims to demonstrate the transformative potential of Archer's Midnight aircraft in regional travel.

Upon completion of the sandbox program, all parties will evaluate the results to consider further initiatives for large-scale eVTOL service introduction. This partnership represents a significant milestone in Saudi Arabia's journey toward sustainable aviation, supporting the goals of Vision 2030.
