Riyadh: President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas commended the steadfast positions of both the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Trkiye in supporting the Palestinian people's rights to freedom and independence.
According to Saudi Press Agency, he welcomed the joint statement issued at the conclusion of the Turkish president's visit to the Kingdom, which reaffirmed the positions of Saudi Arabia and Trkiye on the Palestinian cause. The statement emphasized the necessity of consolidating the ceasefire, ending the occupation of Gaza, enabling the Palestinian National Authority to resume its responsibilities in the Gaza Strip, and ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international law and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative.
