Palestinian and Cypriot Presidents Discuss Developments in Palestinian Territories

Ramallah: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides engaged in talks regarding the recent developments in the Palestinian territories and the strong bilateral relations between their respective countries. This meeting took place at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah, where the two leaders underscored the importance of cooperation and dialogue.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, President Abbas provided President Christodoulides with an update on the situation within the Palestinian territories. He emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire, the release of detainees, and the provision of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. Abbas also highlighted the necessity for the State of Palestine to assume civil and security responsibilities, ensuring that weapons are controlled by the Palestinian Authority. He called for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and the initiation of reconstruction efforts without further displacement.

President Christodoulides reaffirmed Cyprus's commitment to supporting peace and stability based on international legitimacy and law. He emphasized the significance of the two-state solution as a foundation for peace in the region. Additionally, he expressed Cyprus's eagerness to deepen the bilateral relations between the two countries, reflecting the mutual respect and friendship shared by their peoples.
