Jeddah: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the joint statement issued by the foreign ministers of 28 countries, which called for an immediate, permanent, and unconditional ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the facilitation of humanitarian aid entry, and the launch of a political process leading to a two-state solution.
According to Saudi Press Agency, OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha emphasized that the statement reflects the increasing consensus within the international community rejecting Israeli aggression and serious violations, particularly forced displacement, which constitutes a clear breach of international humanitarian law.
He renewed his call for the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities by pressuring the occupying power to halt military operations against civilians in the Gaza Strip, ensuring the safe passage of humanitarian aid, and implementing relevant UN resolutions to uphold the rights of the Palestinian people. This includes achieving freedom and independence and realizing the sovereignty of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital.
