Jeddah: Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Taha has praised the decisions by the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia to recognize the State of Palestine. Taha described the move as a step that aligns with international law and relevant UN resolutions.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the OIC secretary-general stated that this recognition is an endorsement of the Palestinian people's legitimate rights, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders.
He reiterated the OIC's call for all countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to do so and to support its full membership in the United Nations. This is viewed as part of the international community's responsibility to end the Israeli occupation, achieve peace and stability in the region, and implement the two-state solution based on international legitimacy resolutions.
