OIC Engages in High-Level UN Conference Focused on Palestinian Peaceful Settlement

New York: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has actively participated in the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Issue at the United Nations. The conference, presided over by Saudi Arabia and France, aims to address the peaceful resolution of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution.

According to Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Amb. Samir Bakr, the Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and Al-Quds Affairs, represented the OIC Secretary-General at the conference. He led a delegation comprising Ambassador Hameed Opeloyeru, the OIC Representative to the United Nations, Mr. Adel Salama from the OIC Department of Palestine and Al-Quds Affairs, and Mr. Jean Iqbal from the OIC Mission to the United Nations. The conference commenced on July 28, 2025, at the UN Headquarters in New York.

The three-day event was inaugurated with speeches from key figures including Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the Saudi Foreign Minister, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, Palestinian Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres. They highlighted the significance of the conference in rallying international support to uphold the two-state solution, end the Israeli occupation, and secure a comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

Throughout the conference, eight sessions are scheduled to explore practical measures for establishing a sovereign Palestinian State, terminating the Israeli occupation, and achieving enduring peace based on the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant UN resolutions.
