OIC and Japan Explore Enhanced Humanitarian Cooperation

Jeddah: Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Social and Cultural Affairs Tarig Ali Bakheet convened with a high-level Japanese delegation to explore avenues for strengthening humanitarian cooperation.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Japanese delegation was led by Masayuki Kameda, Principal Deputy Director of the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and included Japanese Consul General in Jeddah, Daisuke Yamamoto. The discussions centered on enhancing collaboration between the OIC and Japan in the realm of humanitarian aid, alongside other topics of mutual concern.

Ambassador Bakheet, who also serves as the OIC secretary-general's special envoy for Afghanistan, emphasized the importance of cooperation in addressing humanitarian challenges. The meeting underscored a shared commitment to fostering stronger ties and effective responses to humanitarian needs.
