Riyadh: The National Water Company (NWC) has completed two drinking water pipeline and network projects in Abha and Khamis Mushait, Aseer Region, costing over SAR60 million. These initiatives, aimed at serving more than 20,000 beneficiaries and supporting the region's tourist season, were implemented on schedule to meet the growing water demand.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the first project, costing more than SAR35 million in Abha, included water networks serving eight districts: Al-Hayam, Al-Khalidiya, Al-Atharban, Al-Zamil, Qasr Al-Alaya, Al-Areen, and Qura Al Yusuf. The project will serve over 10,000 beneficiaries. It included implementing 55,700 meters of water networks, a 15,170-meter-long transmission pipeline, and a pumping station with a total daily capacity of 1,200 cubic meters.
The second project, costing more than SAR24 million, involved installing 60,000 meters of water pipework of various diameters. Serving some 10,000 beneficiaries, the project aims to provide drinking water to six districts in Khamis Mushait, including Al-Dharfa, Al-Iskan, Tara, Al-Diyafa, Al-Yamama, and Atoud. This endeavor contributes to the project's full operation for implementing drinking water networks in East Abha.
The release also highlighted that these projects are part of NWC's ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency, improve water distribution and delivery to the beneficiaries, and achieve water security, ensuring sustainable water services across all cities and governorates of the Kingdom. NWC is committed to applying the highest quality standards to all its projects.
