Northern Borders University Develops AI Model to Boost Urban Planning, Environmental Protection with Satellite Imagery

General

Arar: A research team from Northern Border University has successfully developed an advanced artificial intelligence model to analyze remote sensing images, aiming to improve urban planning and environmental resource management. The model is designed to classify land uses and covers in real-time with high accuracy, offering significant advancements in these critical areas.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the newly developed AI model employs state-of-the-art techniques that enable it to achieve an impressive 94.8% accuracy in performance tests conducted on global datasets. The model's design also reduces computational parameters, which allows for its implementation in embedded devices such as drones and portable monitoring tools.

The study, published in Scientific Reports, underscores the model's potential in addressing pressing global challenges, such as climate change and unplanned urban expansion. By providing precise and rapid tools for monitoring environmental changes, the model is expected to support decision-makers in various sectors, including smart agriculture, disaster management, and the protection of natural resources.
