Riyadh: National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) has launched a nationwide initiative to rehabilitate natural pastures by sowing seeds across 33 locations at the start of the rainy season, aiming to enhance soil quality, boost vegetation cover, and promote long-term environmental sustainability.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the initiative will begin in Al-Jouf Region and gradually expand to include Northern Borders, Hail, Qassim, Madinah, Makkah, Riyadh, Eastern, and Aseer regions. Local plant species will be sown using advanced machinery and specialized equipment to ensure effective coverage and regeneration.
This effort aligns with the goals of the Saudi Green Initiative, which targets the planting of 10 billion trees across the Kingdom.
The NCVC plays a key role in advancing the Kingdom's environmental and sustainable development objectives. As part of its broader mandate, it works to develop, protect, and monitor vegetation sites, rehabilitate degraded lands, and oversee the sustainable management of pasture lands, forests, and national parks.
