NCVC Launches ‘Gear Up and Go’ Campaign to Promote Camping Guidelines

General

Riyadh: The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) has launched the "Gear Up and Go" campaign to encourage responsible camping in authorized vegetation cover areas.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the campaign promotes using the "Nabati" platform to obtain camping permits and raises awareness about essential best practices for a safe and enjoyable camping experience.

As part of the campaign, the center has released a comprehensive guide featuring over 50 national parks within vegetation cover areas, coinciding with the current winter camping season. The guide provides simple instructions for obtaining a camping permit and features a checklist of essential camping gear, safety tips to prevent accidents or emergencies, and practical advice for handling unexpected camping situations.

The guide highlights the importance of protecting the environment while enjoying nature. Campers are urged to safeguard biodiversity, dispose of waste in designated areas, and light fires only in approved locations, ensuring fires are fully extinguished before departure. It also reminds campers that using local firewood or charcoal is prohibited and subject to penalties under the Environmental Law and its regulations.

"The NCVC continues its mission to restore, protect, and oversee vegetation sites across the Kingdom. Its work includes rehabilitating degraded areas, managing rangelands, forests, and national parks, preventing violations, and combating illegal logging. The center also promotes sustainable use of natural resources and biodiversity conservation," the release reads.
