Riyadh: The National Water Company's (NWC) Western Cluster announced the completion of a series of water and environmental projects in Taif Governorate, worth over SAR323 million, as part of its ongoing development efforts to enhance infrastructure and improve the operational efficiency of water and environmental sectors in the Makkah Region.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the company noted that the projects included implementing the Rahmaniya Operational Reservoir project in Taif Governorate to meet water needs and enhance the operational water system in the northern districts at a cost of more than SAR65.7 million. The reservoir, with a capacity of 100,000 cubic meters, will serve more than 100,000 beneficiaries in the served districts.
In the environmental sector, the NWC completed the sewage feeder lines project, spanning over 34.8 kilometers at a cost exceeding SAR36.5 million, serving more than 48,000 people in the Arimiya, Qadira, Al-Faisaliyah, and Al-Jawhara Palace Complex districts in Taif Governorate. Additionally, the company implemented a sewage feeder lines project covering 16.5 kilometers in parts of Al-Huwaiya, Al-Istad, and Taif University areas for 26,000 people to upgrade the services and increase the coverage in these districts at a cost of more than SAR19.1 million.
The company also implemented a transmission line project to reinforce the sewage network to serve different districts in Taif Governorate, namely Al-Wesam, Eastern Ring, Bin Fatin districts, Al-Faisaliah, Al-Qumariyah, Northern and Southern Shuhada, Al-Bay'ah, Almaaredh, and Al-Washhaa. The project, which cost more than SAR202.3 million, involved a total length of more than 18 kilometers.
The NWC pointed out that the implemented projects are part of its strategic plans to improve the quality of life and services, enhance the operational efficiency of the water and environmental sectors, expand the coverage in beneficiary districts, and contribute to finding solutions and eliminating environmental damage. The company emphasized its commitment to advancing its future development plans to achieve its goals by developing operations in the water and environmental sectors across the region.
