Jeddah: Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif Al Alsheikh signed today in Jeddah the executive program for the memorandum of understanding in the field of Islamic affairs with Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs of the Federal Republic of Somalia Sheikh Mukhtar Robow Ali.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the signing of the executive program comes in implementation of the memorandum of understanding previously concluded between the two sides in the field of Islamic affairs in Jeddah on 6 Rajab 1445 AH. Through this executive program, the two parties agreed to activate the MoU's provisions in a manner that enhances areas of cooperation and serves Islamic issues of mutual interest.
The executive program includes several areas of cooperation, most notably the organization of foundational scholarly courses in the Federal Republic of Somalia to qualify preachers, imams, khateebs, and muezzins. It also focuses on promoting the approach of moderation and balance, clarifying the tolerant principles of Islam, combating extremism and radicalism, and explaining Islam's position on contemporary issues.
In addition, the program provides for supplying Somalia's Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs with copies of publications issued by the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Quran. These include translations of the meanings of the Holy Quran, as well as books and scholarly and dawah publications issued by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.
