This year, the Saudi Post (SPL) and the Ministry of Health successfully completed an experiment to transport blood units at the holy sites using drones before Hajj. This will enable the successful implementation of this strategy over the upcoming Hajj seasons.
Drones and other cutting-edge technology provide speedy access to urgent cases and assist in overcoming all traditional challenges. Additionally, it reduces the time needed to transfer blood units from 2.5 hours to 2 minutes.
The collaboration between the Ministry of Health and SPL aims to achieve the objectives of the Pilgrim Experience Program, envisaged in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and substantial leaps in the services provided to pilgrims during their stay in the Kingdom.
