Ministry of Environment, FAO Organize Training Course on Organic Fertilizer

Jazan, The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, in partnership with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), on Wednesday held a training course, “Organic Fertilizer Production and Its Uses,” within the framework of the Technical Cooperation Program to enhance the implementation of the Sustainable Rural Agricultural Development Program, with the participation of 30 agricultural engineers and researchers in the Jazan region. The training discussed several topics, including the relationship of food security to agricultural soil, the organic content of soil, ways to benefit from agricultural waste and transform it into productive and economic gains, and the establishment of organic fertilizer -- compost -- production units on the farm using the available capabilities. The course aimed to clarify the components of agricultural soil, and the importance of organic fertilizer in improving the quality of agricultural production and improving the physical and chemical properties of the soil.
