HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s Central Asia tour embodies State of Qatar’s strategy, which His Highness established by building bridges and the closest ties and the strongest relations with various countries, said HE Minister of Justice Masoud bin Mohammed Al Amri on Wednesday.
In an interview with Qatar News Agency , HE the Minister noted HH the Amir’s tour would take bilateral relations to broader horizons, open doors for participation in new and promising sectors in all fields, especially economic and trade, as well as strengthening the ties in legal services sector.
HH the Amir’s visit to the Kyrgyz Republic came within this framework, as it will positively reflect on the bilateral relations between the two countries, and will open prospects for cooperation and opportunities to enhance it in various fields, in addition to exchanging views on issues of common interest, HE said.
His Excellency said that His Highness’ visit also comes to confirm the relations between the State of Qatar and the Kyrgyz Republic in terms of integration in visions and goals, building bridges between Doha and Bishkek, and opening new horizons of future cooperation between the two countries and peoples towards strengthening relations, as well as developing areas of cooperation to achieve common interests for the benefit of the legal services sectors in both countries.
Commenting on the role of HH the Amir’s visit to the Kyrgyz Republic in consolidating bilateral judicial and legal cooperation, HE said that the numerous agreements and memoranda of understanding inked during the visit reflect the keenness of the two countries to enhance bilateral cooperation, contribute to the development of strong, and growing bilateral relations, bolster the official and popular interaction between the two countries, and open the doors for increasing the volume of investment and exchanging experiences.
The great bilateral relations are ascribed to various agreements, MoUs and protocols, including, for example, an agreement on economic, trade and technical cooperation, an agreement on mutual encouragement and protection of investments, a memorandum of cooperation in the fields of tourism, education, scientific research, culture and aviation services, HE said, noting that the Qatai-Kyrgyz intergovernmental committee on economic, commercial and technical cooperation held its first meeting in 2017 in Doha.
HE the Minister of Justice highlighted that HH the Amir’s visit to the Kyrgyz Republic also culminated in the signing of more agreements and MoUs in various fields, including memoranda of understanding and cooperation between the Ministry of Justice of the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic in the legal field.
Asked about the State of Qatar’s diplomatic approach and its role in supporting efforts to establish international peace and security, His Excellency stressed that the State of Qatar’s foreign relations are based on mutual respect, work to support the just national positions of all countries and the preservation of international legitimacy and the UN charters and principles. His Excellency added that Qatar’s foreign policy is based on its moral and humane roles to provide economic support for world countries amid the serious challenges that the world is going through due to new international conflicts, economic crises and global phenomena.
His Excellency hailed the State of Qatar’s prestigious international reputation and global position earned thanks to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s wise leadership, the country’s steadfast stances, developed economy, effective mediation in various regional and international disputes, and its contributions to achieving international security, preserving freedoms, combating terrorism and protecting human rights. Qatar’s influence and credibility have grown so much that Qatar is now a mediator in various regional and international disputes, HE said.
His Excellency added that HH the Amir’s speeches confirm that Qatar will always support the oppressed, continue its humanitarian, relief and mediation roles to find just solutions in all disputes, and maintain regional and international peace and security as a priority in its foreign policy whose principles and objectives are based on the UN Charter and the international legitimacy rules that call for constructive cooperation among states, mutual respect, non-interference in internal affairs, good neighborliness, the promotion of peaceful coexistence, and the adoption of peaceful means to settle disputes.
Addressing the UN General Assembly in Sep. 2022, HH the Amir stressed that Qatar’s approach is to focus on national and human development internally, and on a foreign policy based on balancing interests and principles, mediation in resolving disputes by peaceful means, and awareness of our responsibility as a source of energy, which enabled us to establish our reputation as a reliable partner internationally, HE said.
On the humanitarian role and development efforts that the State of Qatar is keen to undertake to help less developed countries, including during the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, HE highlighted that Qatar’s policy is based on cooperation with the international community to address humanitarian challenges and provide humanitarian and development assistance, especially in the areas most in need, where the State of Qatar is keen to provide all aspects of support and assistance to them in all fields, based on its humanitarian and moral role and commitment to its responsibility as an active partner in the international community.
HE also highlighted Qatar’s urgent aid to about 88 countries to enhance their ability to deal with the pandemic, with the total amount governmental and non-governmental organizations’ aid having exceeded USD 256 million. Qatar also allocated a total of USD 20 million to the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), and USD 10 million to support the World Health Organization (WHO)’s 13th General Program of Work, and other contributions and initiatives within the framework of accelerating the availability of anti-Covid-19 tools in poor countries.
Within the framework of assisting the needy and least developed countries and providing them with humanitarian and development aid, the State of Qatar pledged to provide USD 12 million in humanitarian aid in the Horn of Africa, and hosted the Fifth UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries in Doha from Jan. 23-27, 2022, under the title “From Potential to Prosperity”, HE said, noting that the conference emanated in the adoption of the Doha Declaration, which reinforces the commitment of the international community to the Doha Program of Action (DPOA) (2022-2031) for the 46 LDCs.
HE also highlighted that the the stakeholders including countries, international bodies and institutions made pledges of more than USD 1.3 billion in grants, investments, loans, aid, development projects and technical support, with the aim of positively affecting the 1.2 billion people living in LDCs, a move that represents a translation of the DPOA into tangible results. In this context, HE said that the State of Qatar announced a financial package of USD 60 million dollars in aid – USD 10 million to support the implementation of the DPOA , and USD 50 million to help build resilience in the LDCs.
