Riyadh: The Holy Makkah Municipality has initiated intensive cleaning work in Mina, leveraging the pilgrims' departure to Arafat to rehabilitate the site for their return.
According to Saudi Press Agency, cleaning teams completed Mina's entire area early and received additional support, including suction pumps and tankers, to facilitate round-the-clock operations and enhance emergency preparedness. The municipality has deployed over 13,000 sanitation workers across Makkah and the holy sites, fully equipped for cleaning and waste management.
Waste collected before and during Arafah Day is transported to transfer stations. Following Arafah, a highly efficient temporary storage system comprising 1,235 compactor bins and 113 ground facilities is utilized. Over 88,000 cleaning containers of various sizes are strategically placed across the holy sites, all part of an integrated plan to ensure a clean and safe environment for pilgrims.
