Jeddah: The Middle-East Endocrine, Diabetes and Obesity Congress, organized by the Saudi Scientific Diabetes Society, concluded today after four days of discussion sessions featuring a distinguished group of specialists, consultants, and healthcare practitioners from around the world.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the congress concluded with recommendations to enhance collaboration among the health, scientific, and community sectors in combating obesity and diabetes. Key recommendations included promoting health education, developing treatment strategies, and supporting scientific research to improve quality of life, reduce future health burdens, and strengthen preventive efforts against diabetes and obesity.
The congress also emphasized aligning national healthcare initiatives with Saudi Vision 2030 to enhance quality of care, improve health performance indicators, and advance obesity treatment strategies. As part of this effort, experts called for the adoption of the latest therapeutic approaches for obesity, including medications, surgical interventions, and modern treatment techniques, as well as the recruitment of highly qualified scientific talent specializing in the treatment of obesity and diabetes. Additionally, the congress urged citizens to consult specialized doctors for accurate medical information rather than relying on unreliable sources. It also emphasized the importance of monitoring diabetes with modern technologies and encouraged individuals to regularly check blood sugar levels using the latest monitoring devices to improve disease management.
As part of its recommendations, the congress also addressed the need for clear treatment guidelines for diabetic patients during the holy month of Ramadan.
