Tokyo: Manga Productions, a subsidiary of the Mohammed bin Salman Foundation (Misk), has announced its sponsorship of the Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2026 (TAAF). The event is slated to be held in Tokyo from March 13 to 16, 2026, in collaboration with the festival organizers.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Tokyo Anime Award Festival, Japan's renowned international animated film festival, takes place in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. Co-hosted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the festival presents the Tokyo Governor's Award to the Grand Prize winner in the competition.
Under the slogan 'Tokyo, the Hub of Contemporary Animation,' TAAF 2026 will present outstanding original works from around the world. The festival celebrates the highest levels of creativity and quality in animation, serving as a global platform for a new wave of animation. Activities for children will provide opportunities for next-generation creators to learn the basics of animation and embark on their journeys on the international stage.
Abdulaziz Almowani, Marketing and Communications Director at Manga Productions, expressed honor in sponsoring the festival and hosting an official symposium as part of the event. He emphasized the influence of Japanese anime and manga culture on creators and young people globally. Based in Saudi Arabia, Manga Productions has been advancing talent development and co-production initiatives with Japan, fostering new forms of cultural exchange. The symposium aims to share the creativity and educational value of anime, as well as the potential for cross-border collaboration.
