Makkah: The Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites released operational data for Ramadan 1447 AH, showing a coordinated effort to manage record visitor density. The transport general center facilitated over 64 million passenger trips to and from the Grand Mosque via shuttle services, accomplished through 1.5 million individual trips using a fleet of 2,600 buses across seven central stations.
According to Saudi Press Agency, station evacuation times during peak hours improved by 21% from the previous year, now averaging under 60 minutes. Within Makkah's neighborhoods, the Makkah bus service carried 2.2 million passengers, and taxi services completed more than 51,000 trips.
Miqats and their mosques regulated flows for four million pilgrims, easing pressure on the central area. To ease congestion inside the Grand Mosque, the commission activated the extension of prayer rows project, providing organized spaces for over 850,000 worshippers across four strategic prayer areas surrounding the mosque.
The commission also prioritized visitor experience and cultural engagement: over 15,000 people visited 14 historical and cultural sites, such as the Hira Cultural District and Islamic history museums, supported by media awareness campaigns to preserve the city's sanctity.
