Makkah Municipality Ramps Up Sanitation Efforts Ahead of Hajj Season

Makkah: In preparation for the 1446 AH Hajj season, the Holy Makkah Municipality is intensifying its environmental sanitation and pest-control operations across various locations.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the efforts encompassed 21,108 sites in April, aiming to enhance services and ensure public health and safety in Makkah's neighborhoods. The municipality reported treating 1,118 insect breeding grounds, 825 drainage manholes, and controlling 405 rodent infestations.

Teams monitored and addressed 1,475 water accumulation sites. Ongoing field surveys and prompt follow-up reports led to the resolution of 959 complaints, ensuring a healthy environment for Makkah's residents and visitors. The municipality also said its field teams continued cleaning and disinfecting, with municipal waste reaching 86,252.5 tons and construction and demolition waste totaling 198,873.7 tons.

Additionally, the municipality maintained and cleaned 2,574 sidewalks and 8,926 waste containers.
