Makkah Health Cluster Launches Memory Clinic for Patients with Early-stage Dementia, Memory Disorders

General

Riyadh: The Makkah Health Cluster, in cooperation with King Abdullah Medical City, announced the launch of a memory clinic today at King Abdulaziz Hospital to provide modern treatments for patients with early-stage dementia and memory disorders.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the cluster stated the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare quality, improve access to specialized services, and prioritize prevention over treatment, in line with the Health Sector Transformation Program under the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

The clinic offers early and advanced assessment and diagnosis for patients with memory disorders and related mental symptoms, along with the latest pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments for early-stage dementia. It operates as part of the Kingdom's palliative care model and serves patients suspected of mild cognitive impairment or those with mental symptoms aged 65 or younger.

Expected outcomes include early dementia diagnosis, ruling out cases unrelated to neurodegeneration, and providing comprehensive support to patients and their families.
