Jeddah: The National Water Efficiency and Conservation Center (MAEE) announced today the implementation of licensing regulations for water efficiency and conservation service providers, following the completion of the legally mandated period for their entry into force. The move comes as part of ongoing efforts to enhance water sustainability in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the regulations aim to organize water efficiency and conservation activities across the urban, agricultural, and industrial sectors by issuing licenses, defining the responsibilities of practitioners and service providers, and establishing oversight mechanisms. This will ensure service quality, compliance with approved standards, and the protection of beneficiaries' rights.
MAEE stated that the regulations cover four main licensed activities: water-use auditing services; measurement and verification of water savings in accordance with approved standards; leak detection and repair services; and the management of renovation and development projects in line with efficiency and conservation standards, including the design and implementation of water-saving solutions. The framework also enables individuals, institutions, and companies to obtain a 'Water Auditor' license within defined scopes of work in targeted sectors.
The center emphasized that the regulations provide a comprehensive legislative and executive framework that strengthens oversight and compliance, supports the application of best technical practices, and enhances the efficiency and sustainability of water resource use.
